Mixed audience of interpreters (and translators) in terms of level of knowledge and experience.

interpreter/translator’s role
• A discussion and examples of sensitive nature assignments that may induce professionals
to be more personally involved
• Explanations on transference and countertransference processes from the therapeutic
setting and the development of the same into a commonplace application in other
professional fields
• Thoughts on self-awareness, transcultural and intracultural elements, possible blind spots
in judgment, and perception projection
• Considerations on strategies to recognize potential distortion and misinterpretation
opportunities.

Our Speaker: Rita Pavone, PhD, MPhil, CCMS, MA
Dr. Rita Pavone is an experienced interpreter and translator, serving in a variety of sectors, and previously held a Linguist/Translator public trust clearance with the DOJ.
Education: Advanced Degree in Foreign Languages/Linguistics, a MA in Communications Management, a MPhil in Advanced Research, and a PhD in Public Policy/Law and Criminal Justice. Dr. Pavone is currently pursuing a MS in Forensic Psychology.
Research: Communications, conflict management, criminal justice, cultural competence, education, ethics, healthcare, interpreting/translation, and public policy areas.
Aside from her affiliation with various committees and honorary associations, she contributes her knowledge from undergraduate courses instruction and clinical trials/bioethics/legal professional accomplishments.
