INTERPRETER OR TRANSLATOR? Even the most informed people will accidentally interchange these two terms. It's totally understandable and an easy mistake. A lot of people make this mistake because the phenomenon they are trying to describe IS a translation of one language to another. That is true. However... HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE: An interpreter INTERPRETS the spoken word & A translator TRANSLATES the written word. Some interpreters are also translators and vice versa....but not that's not always the case.
